Jenny Sandvig is a Policy Director at the Norwegian National Human Rights Institution (NHRI), responsible for their work on climate and human rights. In this capacity, Ms. Sandvig has led the work on a third-party intervention submitted on behalf of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) in the Swiss climate case ‘Klimaseniorinnen’ before the European Court of Human Rights. She has also led the work on a third-party intervention submitted by the Norwegian NHRI to the Norwegian Supreme Court in the Arctic Oil case ‘Nature and Youth Norway and others v. Norway’. Prior to joining the Norwegian NHRI in 2020, she worked as an attorney for the Norwegian Attorney General’s Office, litigating human rights cases before domestic and international courts. Ms. Sandvig holds an LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School and a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Oslo. She has published several pieces on the topic of climate and human rights, including a piece on transnational and intertemporal climate harm in EJIL:Talk!, a chapter in the Norwegian textbook “Climate Law” (ed. Prof. Hans Chr. Bugge) and a digital commentary on the European Convention on Human Rights (ed. Karnov).
