Alejandra has been PODER’s Senior Advocacy Associate since 2018. She has contributed to PODER’s growth and consolidation as a regional and international actor in the field of business and human rights from a feminist perspective. She has co founded the Feminists4BindingTreaty initiative, she is currently part of the Steering Committee of the Corporate Accountability Working Group at ESCR-Net, and is playing an active role in reaching out diverse movements and civil society actorts to strengthen a robust and solid social movement to influence the current business and human rights agenda.
Prior to joining PODER, Alejandra was a consultant for DAWN for almost 4 years specially working with the Social Mobilsing and PEG Team to stimulate movement building and education across movements in the issue of transformative economies from a feminist perspective. Alejandra worked for almost 7 years as Senior Advocacy Associate in AWID in the Economic Justice Team where she promoted several advocacy actions around SDGs and Agenda 2030 and motivated and organised processess of feminist economic education in editions of AWID Forum. She acted for 5 years as Women Rights Coordinator for Actionaid Américas, where she promoted campaigns on VAW and HIV AIDS and Hunger Free women with several women and feminist movements. She has been working on human rights, social and gender justice issues for two decades, focusing on education, gender and development in the past 20 years. She has been a presenter and facilitator in several UN venues such as Beijing, SDGs, FfD Reviews, including the recent official sessions for a Legally Binding Treaty on TNCs and Human Rights, Regional Consultations on BHR in Latin America, among others. She is part of several groups such as Women Major Group, coFounding member of South Feminist Futures and advisor and member of Campaign of Campaigns, . She was recently elected member of the Board of REPEM where she worked for more than 10 years. Alejandra is an educator by training.
